Presentation Abstract

This session will be an interactive discussion of the key changes resulting from the implementation of healthcare reform, their timing and the implications for pharmaceutical manufacturers. A variety of topics will be covered, the likely impact of structural changes, higher government-mandated rebates from manufacturers, new state insurance exchanges, accountable care organizations (ACOs) and comparative efficacy reviews. These changes will be examined from a payer perspective, specifically how payers are likely to shift their organizational priorities, evaluate new products, and manage access with new restrictions. Participants will learn what are the key events, their likely implications and how to prepare for and respond to these changes. We will also briefly cover recent events that may impact some aspects of healthcare reform including judicial and legislative actions.
